June 11, 2011 was a great day for our 2nd Community BBQ!
All in attendance were treated to friendship, great food, fine music, and information regarding our
McCormick Pit efforts.
April 14, 2012 was time to kick up some dust again! This time in Caledon East.
<<<<<< See details at left & pics below ...
April 14, 2012 was a DON'T MISS event featuring asit-down dinner, two eminent speakers and a 6-piece band for listening and dancing pleasure. Our speakers were:
Alisa McClurg - topic: Aggregates in Ontario: A Path to Effective Solutions
Alisa is a committed environmental planner and passionate community activist whose wide-ranging interests include aggregate resource management, sustainable food systems, and global climate change. Aware of, but not deterred by the challenges of bringing about real change, she is constantly seeking and applying new ideas and perspectives gained from her various pursuits.
Tanya Markvart - topic: Overcoming 'Stone Age' Obstacles - Hope for Our Gravel Future
Tanya is a PhD candidate in Urban Planning at the University of Waterloo. Her research focuses on community systems change and resistance to change towards sustainability. Her interest in aggregates stems from her research on strategic provincial and municipal land use planning. Tanya also works as an independent consultant in the areas of sustainability assessment and strategic sustainability planning.
We also want to express our gratitude to the volunteers from Scotiabank who donated their time and energy at the event!
