The McCormick pit application calls for a 100acre, 7 stories below-water-table aggregate extraction mine on Heart Lake Rd. in a rural residential area. You may not get a good picture of the extent of such mines by driving by, unless you are bothered by heavy truck traffic! However, from the air it is quite a different picture. The 2700+ acres ALREADY being mined in Caledon are leaving scars that are permanent. It is time to rethink what we are doing to our Escarpment!
